Who we are
VideoDL.xyz was started by a group of developers and everyday internet users who had a simple problem: saving an Instagram video to their phone was way harder than it needed to be. Every tool we tried was slow, full of pop-ups, or asked for account credentials it had no business requesting.
So we built our own. VideoDL is an independent project — not affiliated with Instagram, Meta, or any social media company. We run it ourselves, we pay for the servers ourselves, and we maintain it because people actually use it and find it helpful.
Why we built it
The honest reason? We were frustrated. Instagram doesn't let you download your own content easily. If you post a video, get inspired by a creator's Reel, or want to save a Story before it disappears — Instagram gives you basically no native way to do that.
We think that's a gap worth filling. People should be able to save content they have permission to save — whether that's their own uploads, content from creators they follow who've shared it publicly, or anything they want to keep offline.
Our promise to users
We will never ask for your Instagram login. We will never sell your data. We will never store your downloads. VideoDL processes your request and forgets it. That's how it should work.

A note on responsible use
We built this tool for legitimate use — saving your own content, downloading videos from creators who have made them publicly available, or keeping offline copies of things you have permission to keep. We do not support using VideoDL to violate anyone's privacy or copyright.
