The Duke of Cambridge is on a four day flying visit to Kuwait and Oman. On Tuesday, he joined Kuwait and British troops, as they took part in joint military exercises. William posted a statement to his official @kensingtonroyal Instagram account, where he kept his royal fans informed of events.

The post read: “The Duke of Cambridge has spent time in Kuwait and Oman understanding the important security history of the region, and the UK’s current links with both countries from a defence perspective.

“In Kuwait, The Duke joined Kuwaiti and UK troops at Exercise Desert Warrior for the bi-annual training exercise.

“The Duke then travelled to Musandam in Oman to learn more about the Royal Navy of Oman’s responsibilities monitoring maritime traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

“Oman and Kuwait are key partners for the UK.

“The Duke met military personnel in both countries who are sharing expertise to improve security.”

The post was accompanied with photos, showing the prince chatting to soldiers and watching troops engage in their various exercises.

Royal fans were quick to send messages of support, as they showed their appreciation of William’s work.

On Monday William visited the Jahra Nature Reserve, which attracts hundreds of species of migratory birds, as they crisscross the globe between their winter and summer habitats.

It also provides permanent homes for a whole variety of different bird species.

The Duke of Cambridge joined a team of litter pickers, as they walked the shore of Persian Gulf mudflats following a trail of plastic bottles, discarded packaging and carrier bags washed up by the sea.

The Prince told his companions: “We’ve made sure we are travelling here we only take our metal bottles with us. Lots of metal bottles.

“I hate plastic bottles now and I look at them and I literally think it’s the enemy.

“You see a plastic bottle and I’m like ‘eugh!’ Horrible isn’t it?”

After his visit to the nature reserve, William met the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, at the Bayan Palace for lunch.

Lunch was followed by a tour of the recently established Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre.
